For many, Christmas is a time of celebration and joy. For some, however, this is a difficult time of year. People are carrying significant weight after the loss of a loved one. The public tone of the season does not resonate with many people’s private experience.
The grief and pain of life do not have to be left at the church door at Christmas but can sit alongside the hope and light at the heart of the Christmas message. A Blue Christmas Service, sometimes called “The Longest Night of the Year,” is planned for December 22 at 2 pm.
We gather in the midst of suffering to remember God is good. God is strong. God is near.
We are not alone, and we have every reason to hold on to hope.
All are welcome.
