You may ask, “What kind of a church is Calvary Temple?” By way of introduction, I would like to share with you some of the internal mechanisms that define and drive Calvary Temple.  We have adopted as our church motto, “Passion for God – Compassion for people”.  These are not just a compilation of words on paper. This motto describes the heartbeat of our church.

1.   We are a church with a passion for God.

We believe our hunger for God must always exceed our reach for God. This keeps our church constantly moving forward spiritually.

We desire worship during our services to be an experience with Christ and not an exercise to endure. We have discovered the Holy Spirit makes this difference as we call on him. Therefore, we are a Holy Spirit sensitive church.

We are a church of the altar. We believe it has its place in every service. We are passionate about inviting people forward to the altar, whether it is to pray for others or to receive prayer ministry through one of our prayer teams.

We are a church of the Word. As pastors we are committed to being students of the Bible. We are committed to preaching with a passion for God, and with a total dependency on God.

We are a church of prayer. Prayer is really the heating element in Calvary Temple.   Without prayer we recognize we will become cold spiritually, cold to each other, and cold to a world that needs the Lord. Prayer is continually emphasized and regularly exercised in our church.

We are passionate for God.

2.  We are a church with compassion for people

Passion for God defines who we are. Compassion for people defines what we do. A passion for God will point us to the cross of Christ. Compassion for people will point us to the cause of Christ. Christ died for a world he loved. If we have a passion for Christ we will supernaturally possess a love for people. These are the results of a church focused on the cross.

As a church family we deeply care for needs. People are not numbers to the fellowship of Calvary Temple. They are individuals that matter to God, and therefore matter to us. We desire to do ministry, for and in the name of, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Along with our weekly ministries to children, youth, and adults, we also encourage our congregation to give financially to our benevolent fund.  This fund is used to help and support physical needs within our church. We feel God has given us the responsibility and the resources to help each other when needs arise. We also financially support local charities, who in turn reach out to our community in practical ways to show the love of God.

We are missions minded church. Many from our church have gone on national and international missions trips to share the love of Jesus in word and in practical ways. As a church we raise a mission’s budget each year. These funds go to support missionaries and missions works in other countries.

We are a church with a compassion for people.

Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to share with you a snapshot of our church. I trust it is helpful in answering any questions you have. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call the church office at 728-8500.

Have a God blessed day,
